How to Prepare for Exams

Keep following the points given below and see the magic.  I am sure you will definitely score good marks in exams.

1.         How should you prepare for exams and my answer will be “by reading.”  You cannot score good marks or even pass the exams without reading.  So, reading is the most important task that anyone can do to prepare for exams.  Make a schedule and stick to it.  It is very hard, but you will need a schedule so as to be able to study systematically.

2.         Start preparing for exams well in advance.  This will make you confident and you will be much more ahead in studies and you will be having plenty of time to clear your doubts and it will also help you to find out whether you have fully understood all the materials that are needed for the exams.

3.         Get rid of procrastination.  This is your most ardent enemy, and the sooner you kick this habit, the faster you will feel better.

4.         If you are studying hard and not able to score good marks, then it is time that you change your reading style.  Follow speed reading techniques and try to apply them in your studies.

5.         Keeping up-to-date with your readings is also very essential, and to do that, daily preparation is crucial.

6.         Find out about the examinations as much as you can.  Be sure to have complete set of notes.  Gather all the material and focus on aspects that the exam will cover.

7.         Revision is important, but there is no one great recipe for revising.  We all have different ways of remembering details.  If you feel that you are not able to remember things easily and often forgetting what you have studied earlier, then follow some basic memory-enhancing steps to improve your memory.  This surely will make you confident enough to do well in exams.

8.         Every day before class, preview the material for about 15-20 minutes.  Read the chapter thoroughly that your teacher is going to teach that day.  This will help you to understand the topic better.  Again, spend another 10-15 minutes after the class to go over the notes.

9.         When you sit for an exam, think carefully about what the question is asking and answer it accordingly.  Try to organize your thoughts before writing.

10.       Whatever you do, do not stress about them. Keeping a positive attitude and studying over time is a trick to do well in exams.

11.       Study before going to bed.  It will help you to remember the stuff that you have learned.  Also, read each paragraph 2 to 3 times so that you can help your brain store the data. If you do not understand something, write it down and check with your teacher as soon as possible.

12.       Group discussion also helps.  Try to share whatever you have learned with your friends.  If group discussion is not possible, then at least have one good friend so that you can share the material that you have learned.  This way you will have much, much clear idea about the topics and the information will get stored in your brain for a long time.

13.       As soon as you get the question paper in hand, try to write the most easiest questions first to get them out of the way.  This way you will have ample time to crack the other hard or long questions.

14.       Lastly, consistent effort is the key to success.  Check answer sheets of previous exams and learn from your mistakes.  Never lose hope and keep following your schedule, and you will see that one day you have become very much confident and smart enough to crack even harder exams.  GOOD LUCK!!
